A Glorious Sunset D.L. Moody, the American evangelist, proclaimed the Gospel of Jesus Christ on both sides of the Atlantic. As he lay dying at Northfield in 1889, he gave this triumphant testimony to the power of the truth to sustain in the hour of death: "Is this dying? Why, this is bliss. There is no valley. I have been within the gates. Earth is receding. Heaven is waiting. God is calling. I must go." |

Into Him Richard Baxter, whose preaching of Christ was blessed to many, said, "In self there is no righteousness. In Christ there is no sin. So I step out of myself and into Him." Visited on his death bed by a friend, he answered the query of, "How are you?" with, "Almost well, and nearly home." |

In The Faith of Jesus Christ Michaelangelo, the famous artist/sculptor left the following testimony in his will when he died in 1564: "I commit my soul to God, my body to earth, my possessions to my nearest relatives. I die in the faith of Jesus Christ, in the firm hope of a better life." |
|
A Never-Failing Friend After settling all his worldly affairs and bidding farewell to his family, President Edwards of Princeton, lay back on his pillows. Calmly awaiting his call that day in 1758, he said, "Where now is Jesus of Nazareth, my never-failing friend?" Then he calmly fell asleep. |

Only One Step More Alfred J. Holiday (of Bradford), was called to his rest after having served the Lord in ministering the Word for many years. With his family gathered around his bedside, he said, "This is the end, but we are all His people, and He will come. I have been happy, happy in His service here. Now I am to be promoted, higher, higher. Oh Lord, give me Grace for one step more, only one step more. Then I shall be with Thee forever." |
