	The Power Source


Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us... Ephesians 3:20


	Ever tried to run your vacuum cleaner without it plugged into the power source? Didn't get much cleaned with it, did you? It used to aggravate me when I'd call for service on a machine at work and the service tech would ask me first thing, "Is it plugged in?" One of them told me at least half of his service calls resulted in merely plugging a machine into the electrical receptacle. And just recently, I thought for sure I was going to get a new cookstove. No matter what I did to it, it would not come on. I called the maintenance man and to my dismay, it was only a matter of the drawer having hung on the cord and pulled it loose from the wall socket. The unit didn't need to be replaced--it simply wasn't plugged in!

The same is true of the "so-called Christians" of today: we aren't plugged in to THE Power Source, so we invent or create power through our own devices. We are not willing to inconvenience ourselves with fasting, praying, reading and studying the Word of God--we swallow and take in everything that comes down the pike at us. We are blown about with every wind of doctrine, then wonder why we are so powerless, why we are not the MORE THAN conquerors as described in Romans 8:37. And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and AS thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour. Matthew 8:13. And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment: For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole. But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour. Matthew 9:20-22. And when Jesus departed thence, two blind men followed him, crying, and saying, Thou Son of David, have mercy on us. And when he was come into the house, the blind men came to him: and Jesus saith unto them, Believe ye that I am able to do this? They said unto him, Yea, Lord. Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you. Matthew 9:27-29.

THE Power Source For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the INNER man; That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, ACCORDING TO THE POWER THAT WORKETH IN US, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen. Ephesians 3:14-21. What an awesome portion of scripture! Can you not see how the Apostle Paul poured himself out to try to describe to us the love of Christ? That love which passes [our} understanding. Then that great servant of God went on to say, unto Him that is able to do all that we ask. But he didn't stop there, with merely "able to do". Oh no! He wanted to try to convey to the reader of his words, and to get the reader of his words to grasp the enormity of God's love for us! The anointing of the Holy Ghost was so full upon and within him, he again put pen to paper to try to more adequately describe how able God is, and how willing He is to do things for us: Not only able, but exceeding able-- Not only exceeding able, but exceeding abundantly able-- Not only exceeding abundantly able, but exceedingly abundantly able to do, Not only exceeding abundantly able to do, but exceeding abundantly able to do above-- Not only exceeding abundantly able to do above, but exceeding abundantly able to do above ALL-- Not only exceeding abundantly able to do above ALL, but exceeding abundantly able to do above all that we ask-- Not only exceeding abundantly able to do above ALL that we ask, but exceeding abundantly able to do above all that we ask OR think! Now just take in, if you can, ONE phrase at a time, as each builds on the one before it. Surely Paul must even then have been dismayed at his own inability to express the love of God--to adequately describe it in its fullness! With our finite human minds and emotions and abilities, it is even LESS possible for us to comprehend the breadth, and length, and depth, and height of God's love toward us than it was for the Apostle Paul. He was plugged in to it! The "church of today" (so-called born-again believers) is NOT! That's right, that's what I said, with no apologies for it: we do NOT have the power that was so evident in the Apostle Paul's life. Folks try to "excuse" their abandonment of Godly principlies with all kinds of excuses, including "that power is not for today." The Word of God tells us, I am the Lord, I change not...! God hasn't changed--we have let down the standards and taken on the things of this world instead of the things of God!

Why Are We So Powerless Today? It is NOT because it "all died out with the last Apostle". That "argument" won't hold water! ALL of the Apostles are not dead! There is an APOSTLE still ALIVE and WELL!!! Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus. Hebrews 3:1. Now maybe YOUR last Apostle has died, but MINE LIVES and REIGNS forever and ever and ever and ever and ever, King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Glory to God! I lift Your Name, Jesus! All praise and honor and glory unto You, for You ARE worthy of it all! It is NOT, I repeat NOT because Jesus has changed: Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. Hebrews 13:8. You want to know why there are so many false prophets, unholy lying preachers, hypocritical church-goers, defeated christians (yep, not CHRISTians, but christians) with all their shenanigans going on in the so-called churches of today? Get ready, get ready, here it comes and oh what a news flash it is: Now just in case you didn't get it, here it is one more time: We need to be VERY careful and exercise the full extent of Spiritual discernment towards that which we see so much of in the churches today, including the "tel-evangelists". We may be seeing "manifestations of power", but is it of the HOLY GHOST? I can plug a 110 into a 220, but I won't get what I should out of it. I'm connected to a power source, but not "the" one needed to do what needs to be done. There is a VAST difference in "a" power source and THE Power Source: genuine Holy Ghost power. We had better [be able to] discern the SOURCE of their "power" before we go all wobbly-eyed over it. The same thing is happening all over this world today: too many 110's are trying to connect to a 220 (please forgive the comparison--no disrespect to the Holy Ghost intended whatsoever) and they are not equipped to do so! Thus, the "works" that they do are shallow and hollow: babbling and jabbering and "teaching" people to talk in "tongues"; gold dust and shaking, quaking, snake-handling. You can find the same thing in voodooism and many other "isms". Then those "enlightened ones" try to equate what they (notice that: THEY) are doing with what took place on the day of Pentecost and various other times of record in the Bible. And we are stupid enough to fall for it. Yes, there is a great "falling away" and look what we're falling for!! It should NOT be a mystery to anyone as to why we are so powerless today! Not only do we "try" to generate our OWN power, we haven't a shred of faith amongst us. We go about moaning the problem instead of speaking the solution, and declaring our faith in God to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think. Well, the FACT is: WE GET OUT WHAT WE'VE GOT IN! We go about blinded by our circumstances instead of seeing, through faith, that which God has for us! We enjoy the pity parties too much to be victorious through faith.

No Gold Dust Here In the ninth Chapter of John, we read the account of Jesus healing a man who had been blind from birth. Now, if Jesus Christ, Himself, Son of the Almighty God with all powers of creation in His grasp to use, didn't sprinkle gold dust on that man, why are folks falling for it today? What did He use? Come on, read it for yourselves: When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay. John 9:6. Spit and dirt! Matter of fact, how many do you know would allow somebody to put such a mixture on their eyes?? Only the greed of carnal man would "require" the presence of gold dust! And a certain man lame from his mother's womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple; Who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked an alms. And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us. And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them. Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but SUCH AS I HAVE GIVE I THEE: IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST OF NAZARETH rise up and walk. And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ancle bones received strength. And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God. Acts 3:1-8. Well, Glory! No gold dust there! Just a simple equation: the lame man EXPECTED to receive--Peter and John gave such as they had, and they didn't operate under their OWN authority either! Those who saw the used-to-be lame man, those who KNEW he had been lame all his life were amazed. And when Peter saw it, he answered unto the people, Ye men of Israel, why marvel ye at this? or why look ye so earnestly on us, as though by our OWN power or holiness we had made this man to walk? The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, hath glorified his Son Jesus... Acts 3:12,13. Glory to God! What a great time it would have been for old Peter to hook his thumbs under his arms and say, "See how great I am? See what I can do?" But he was plugged in to THE Power Source--he knew where the power came from: *The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, hath glorified His Son Jesus!* Just as He would today, IF we were plugged into THE Power Source! Oh Glory! And Stephen, oh who of us would DARE to be like Stephen??? Standing there before all those self-righteous, self-exalted leaders, knowing full well he wasn't getting out of there alive, didn't back down one inch! He wasn't about to trade his own welfare for the height and breadth and depth and width of the Truth! Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands; as saith the prophet, Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool: what house will ye build me? saith the Lord: or what is the place of my rest? Hath not my hand made all these things? Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye. Acts 7:48-51. Preachers today are so worried about offending the "deep pockets" of their congregations--yet Stephen didn't back down and it was his very LIFE! When they heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed on him with their teeth. But he, being FULL of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly INTO heaven, and saw the glory of God, and JESUS STANDING ON THE RIGHT HAND of God, And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God. Acts 7:54-56. He was plugged into THE Power Source!

The Holy Ghost Is Alive And Well Today! Let me make this VERY VERY plain to you right now, my friends: The Holy Ghost is alive and well today! And the gifts of the Holy Ghost are the REAL thing -- they are genuine. And they are still available today to those who are WILLING to do what it takes to have those genuine gifts of the HOLY GHOST. But we have abandoned the POWER of the GENUINE for the fakery and trickery of the world! We are UNWILLING to live righteously and holy before God, so we use the power within us, and it is NOT God's power! We are NOT plugged into THE Power Source; we are generating our own through ungodly, unholy methods! No wonder it all goes so wrong! For God is NOT the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints. Let all things be done decently and in order. II Corinthians 14:33,40. This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures MORE THAN lovers of GOD; Having a FORM of godliness, but DENYING the POWER thereof: from SUCH TURN AWAY. For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, Ever learning, and NEVER able to come to the knowledge of THE TRUTH. II Timothy 1:3-7. Folks, we are not TURNING AWAY from the UNgodliness--we are plugged in to everything in the world (and OF the world). We are NOT connected to THE Power Source, the Holy Ghost. "Oh, don't call it the Holy Ghost, it's the Holy Spirit". Right now, let me make this very clear to you: "IT" ain't an "it"--HE is a vibrant, vital Being. When Jesus Christ ascended to Heaven to take His place at the right hand of our Heavenly Father, wherein He makes daily intercession for us, He sent unto us "The Comforter". For there are THREE that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. I John 5:7.

Working Up The Power Now we have received, NOT the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. Which things also we speak, NOT in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the NATURAL man receiveth NOT the things of the Spirit of God: for they are FOOLISHNESS unto him: NEITHER CAN HE KNOW THEM, because they are SPIRITUALLY discerned. I Corinthians 2:12-14. Nowadays, "the church" is so powerLESS, with such spineless, fearful leaders in it, we have to "work up" the power, otherwise known as "putting on a floor show!" Let me tell you right now, IF it is the genuine article, there is NO having to "WORK IT UP"--the power of God is mighty [beyond our comprehension] and it doesn't have to be worked up. You can go to any voodoo meeting and see people "worked up". You can go to any football game and see people "worked up". Matter of fact, you can go almost anywhere in the world, EXCEPT the churches, and see folks "worked up". If you have the anointing of the Holy Ghost in your life, you will arrive alive and full of the spirit at church! You won't have to be "worked up" through some floor show. The Holy Ghost is INDWELLING, not something we "invoke", my friends! Matter of fact, just WHY do we pray, "Oh Holy Spirit, be in our midst tonight"? Didn't we bring Him in WITHIN us? Is He wandering around aimlessly somewhere in the church building? Does He live in the church building? In a word, NO!!!! It's a sad state of spiritual affairs when the ONLY way we know the Holy Spirit is present is by some physical manifestation. What did Jesus say? ...Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe. John 4:48. The Word of God tells us in Matthew 6:33, But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness... FIRST, not LAST! No, no, no, no, no! That means we would have to turn loose of the things of this world! We want the drama of the manifestations of the Holy Ghost so we can be entertained or have something to gossip about the next morning. We are powerless because we seek the gifts instead of the Giver! The "created" instead of the CREATOR! Think about it! Do you love your parents or your children only because of what they give you? Kind of a shallow relationship wouldn't you say? Would you say that is a display of GENUINE love? Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost. Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. - For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; - to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; - To another faith by the same Spirit; - to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; - To another the working of miracles; - to another prophecy; - to another discerning of spirits; - to another divers kinds of tongues; - to another the interpretation of tongues: But ALL these worketh that ONE and the SELFSAME Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will. For as the body is one, and hath many members, and ALL the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. I Corinthians 12:3-12. That is NOT a grocery-list, a pick and choose list, by the way! "Oh, let's have some of this, and maybe a little of that, and just a pinch of that over there... Let's put on a show, but no preaching on The BLOOD, that might offend someone. People are tired of hearing about Salvation through the blood (ugh!)." In a society that is more violent and prone to violence than ever before, we are squeamish about preaching on the shed blood of Jesus Christ for the remission of our sins?? No wonder we are powerLESS!! It is that precious blood that leads us to a full embrace of the love of God! The precious blood of Jesus washes away all the sin (and hurt and anger and bitterness and hate and prejudice) that so encumbers us today! Yet, the preachers won't preach it and we don't want to hear it! Yes, how wonderful all those gifts of the Spirit, but look here:...Yet shew I unto you a MORE excellent way. I Corinthians 12:31. Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing. Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away. For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away. When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things. For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity. I Corinthians 13.

Power In The Blood "Oh, so beastly! All that talk of blood!" Let me tell you one thing: if you are saved, it was through the shed blood of Jesus Christ! And the only way anyone is ever saved is through the supreme sacrifice He became for each and every one of us--shedding His life's blood on that old rugged cross! We don't want to upset anyone so we don't preach on the power of the blood of Jesus Christ anymore, but we'll sit in front of a television and watch the most ghastly filth and gore ever produced by mankind! "Oh, but don't preach on the BLOOD!" But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building; Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? Hebrews 9:11-14. And the ONLY way to have the kind of LOVE described in I Corinthians 13 is through the blood of Jesus Christ that was shed for our sins! There is POWER in the Blood of Jesus Christ! Would you be FREE from the burden of sin? There is pow'r in the blood, pow'r in the blood; Would you o'er evil a VICTORY win? There's wonderful pow'r in the blood. There is pow'r, pow'r, wonder working pow'r In the blood, of the Lamb.
