I should have had a crown of thorns; instead He gave me gold. I should have wandered lost in sin; instead He saved my soul. I should have been there on that tree; instead He took my place. I should have fallen 'neath my cross; instead He gives me Grace.
I should have been in sin's dark tomb; instead He rescued me. I should have borne the stripes He wore; instead He set me free. I should have worn that bloodied robe; instead He gave me white. I should have suffered, bled and died; instead He gave me life.
I should have undergone that trial; instead He bore the shame. I should have not denied my Lord; instead He knows my name. I should have felt sad and alone; instead He carries me. I should have stayed forever down; instead He gave victory.
I should have felt the sword's deep thrust; instead He took the knife. I should have tasted drink so foul; instead I got waters of life. I should have been condemned to die; instead He took the loss. I should have paid the wages of sin; instead He bore the cost.
I want my life to always show the Grace of Calvary; A daily reminder of what should have been, yet I was set free. He bore the cross and took the pain and rose up from that grave That I could tell others of His love and of His power to save.
A wretch like me, so lost and mean, so bitter deep within; He replaced all with love and Grace: He took away my sin. Now humbled I can lift Him up and let all the people see-- What He did for me, He'll do for them: This Jesus of Calvary.

I just love this song: "They're gone, my sins are gone!" Glory to God! May we never get beyond, over, past, that joyful proclamation: "They're gone! My sins are gone!" Every time I awaken and at various times during my day, how marvelous to proclaim, "They're gone! My sins are gone!" There's NO God like Jehovah! Thank You, Jesus!
My Sins are Gone You ask me why I'm happy so I'll just tell you why, Because my sins are gone; And when I meet the scoffers who ask me where they are, I say, "My sins are gone."
They're underneath the blood on the cross of Calvary, As far removed as darkness is from dawn; In the sea of God's forgetfulness, that's good enough for me, Praise God, my sins are gone!
'Twas at the old-time altar where God came in my heart And now my sins are gone; The Lord took full possession, the devil did depart, I'm glad my sins are gone!
When Satan comes to tempt me and tries to make me doubt, I say, "My sins are gone, You got me into trouble but Jesus got me out." I'm glad my sins are gone!
I'm living now for Jesus, I'm happy night and day, Because my sins are gone; My soul is filled with music, with all my heart I say, "I know my sins are gone!"
They're underneath the blood on the cross of Calvary, As far removed as darkness is from dawn; In the sea of God's forgetfulness, that's good enough for me, Praise God, my sins are gone!
