| I asked God to take away my pride. God said, "No. "It is not for me to take away, but for you to give up." I asked God to make my handicapped child whole. God said, "No. "Her spirit is whole--her body is only temporary." I asked God to give me patience. God said, "No. "Patience is a by-product of tribulations. It isn't granted, it's earned." I asked God to give me happiness. God said, "No. "I give you blessings. Happiness is up to you." I asked God to spare me pain. God said, "No. "Suffering draws you apart from worldly cares and draws you closer to me." I asked God to make my spirit grow. God said, "No. "You must grow on your own, but I will prune you to make you productive." I asked God for all things that I might enjoy life. God said, "No. "I will give you life so that you may enjoy all things." I asked God to help me love others, as much as He loves me. God said, "AAAhhhhhhhhh! Finally, you have the idea!" | Be thankful you don't have everything you desire. If you did, what would there be to look forward to? Be thankful you don't know something For it gives you the opportunity to learn. Be thankful for the difficult times. During those times, you grow. Be thankful for your limitations. They give you opportunities for improvement. Be thankful for each new challenge. They will build your strength and character. Be thankful for your mistakes. They will teach you valuable lessons. Be thankful when you are tired and weary. It means you've made a difference. It is easy to be thankful for just the good things. It takes real strength of character to be thankful for all things. Find a way to be thankful, even for your troubles. They can become your blessings. Author Unknown | |||
| Loneliness Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. If ye love me, keep my commandments. And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. John 14:12-18. Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. Isaiah 41:10. God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1. | |||
| Fear He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday. A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee. Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked. Because thou hast made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone. Psalm 91:1-12. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:35,37-39. | |||
| Sadness For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 4:15,16. We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal. II Corinthians 4:8,9,16-18. (For we walk by faith, not by sight:) II Corinthians 5:7. | |||
