I Must Tell Jesus

In the fear of the Lord is strong confidence:
and his children shall have a place of refuge.

Proverbs 14:26

I must tell Jesus all of my trials; I cannot bear these burdens alone:
In my distress He kindly will help me; He ever loves and cares for His own.

I must tell Jesus, I must tell Jesus! I cannot bear my burdens alone;
I must tell Jesus--I must tell Jesus! Jesus can help me, Jesus alone.

I must tell Jesus all of my troubles; He is a kind, compassionate friend.
If I but ask Him, He will deliver; Make of my troubles quickly an end.

Oh how the world to evil allures me; Oh how my heart is tempted to sin!
I must tell Jesus and He will help me, over the world a victory to win!

The Lord hath heard my supplication; the Lord will receive my prayer. Psalm 6:9. And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. If ye love me, keep my commandments. John 14:13-15.

Sometimes, it seems as if the trials we encounter during our lives will rob us of our very existence, doesn't it? First one thing, then another--piling in upon us as we bow under the weight of each burden.

For those who have committed their lives to Christ, God NEVER intended that WE be defeated by things that beset us in this life. Yet, it is our first "inclination" to take it all on ourselves, isn't it? That's backwards, my friends.

Do you understand what our graphic above is illustrating? During our life, we will endure trials, tribulations, and tests. They are a part of life, "life lessons" from which we [should] learn. We start out with OUR will, but over the course of our life in service to the Lord, we learn to fully submit our will to His Will.

Each of us has a cross to bear BEFORE the crown we wear, but understand this--get a GRIP on this: we are to endure to the END! And the ONLY way to endure to the end is to talk to the Lord. We canNOT, nay, we WILL NOT make it on our own! It is HIS strength upon which we must rely!

Even as we render this page for your viewing, the tv networks spew forth misinformation, conflicting reports, with an "If it bleeds, it leads" mentality, all the while telling us, "Don't panic!" How incredibly absurd! The very first thing we think is, "There must be SOMETHING to panic about, or they wouldn't be telling us, 'Don't panic'!" READ THIS CAREFULLY: our common sense (good old-fashioned "Horse Sense") has gone the same route as all that incredible technology that we had so many false hopes in: fallen 'way short of what we were led to believe it could do! We've traded wisdom for educational titles and we GOT CHEATED! All the knowledge in the world, without plain old common sense mixed in will profit little, if any. All it does is get us into trouble--ONLY clear reason and logic--WISDOM, will get us out!

If you are looking to the news media as a source of hope, FORGET IT! If you are depending on the government to safeguard your future, FORGET IT! The ONLY SURE SOURCE of security rests in CHRIST JESUS ALONE! He is an unfailing, ever-faithful source of hope, comfort AND security.

Can't sleep at night? Don't turn on the tv. Don't take a swig out of that bottle! Don't fasten your hopes on this sedative or that one--get out your Bible and read that which has been preserved through the centuries--that which has proven true time and time and time again! Talk to the Lord about that which bothers you, WHATEVER it is!

Some might say, "But He doesn't talk back." Oh yes He does! But the only way to hear Him is to be in "listening mode" to that which He has to say. And how do we get there? By us having a repentant heart, our wills subjected to His!

Are you getting any reliable, trustworthy answers from your tv, your radio? No, we are all hearing conflicting opinions. This one says that, that one says this one doesn't know what he (or she) is talking about. God wants to talk to you through the Bible. And He will, if you will but get it out, dust it off and read it.

You may well have heard it said before, but I'll tell you again: For ANY situation that could ever arise, the written Word of God has a solution for it! That's why it's everlasting: that's why we serve the GREAT I AM: ever present, for the present!

The saddest part of all is that because the Word of God convicts us of the sin in our lives, that which we know we are doing, but shouldn't be, we reject it! There are no two ways about it: God's Way--the RIGHT way, the way of solutions OR our way, the way of trouble and devastation.

I Must Tell Jesus!

Nothing causes greater panic or strikes more terror to our heart than not knowing what to believe. Amen? Think about it. Yet with all we "think" we know, if we don't know the Lord Jesus Christ as our personal Savior, we know nothing of any value whatsoever to our eternal soul. As trial-filled as this life may sometimes be, there is coming a day for each of us when all that we have won't make a moment's bit of difference. That day is when our life on this earth ends and we go to "meet our Maker".

We spend billions and billions each year on insurance for material possessions, totally disregarding the insurance we need for our eternal souls. There is an insurance, already bought and paid for, available to each of us--an insurance that transcends this life into eternity: salvation through Jesus Christ. It means a daily commitment of our lives to live for HIM. It's more than an occasional visit to a church or cathedral; it's more than a stray thought here or there about Him. It's not "a" way of life to us, it's THE way of life to us. Doesn't mean we'll never have trials, tests or temptations, but it DOES mean that we don't have to rely on our own strength--it won't be enough to carry us through.

Elisha Hoffman went to visit a lady, who had endured many instances of sorrow and affliction. Upon his arrival at her home, he found her very discouraged. As she related all that had happened, she asked, "Brother Hoffman, what shall I do? What shall I do?" Sharing scriptures from the Bible with her, the Pastor then advised her, "You cannot do better than to take all of your sorrows to Jesus. You must tell Jesus."
She fell silent, lost in meditation for a moment. Then her face lit up, as she realized what she had heard: "Yes, I must tell Jesus!"
When Pastor Hoffman left her home, he recalled how her face had lit up with joy. As he made his way home, those words reverberated in his mind: "I must tell Jesus!" He quickly wrote the words and soon completed the melody of this lovely old hymn: "He is a kind, compassionate friend--He ever loves and cares for His own."
