Forever Friend When it seemed that all was hopeless, and there was no one to care.
Yet each time I cried to Jesus, and He took away the strife--
Speaking peace into my being, as He gave abundant life.
E'en when storms would try o'erthrow me, and my vessel nearly lost
As the waves of life swept o'er me, on their billows I was tossed.
Yet safe harbor was there waiting, as I bowed there at His feet--
When He took away my burdens and He gave me joy complete.
Times of trouble near o'ertake us; seems our enemy prevails--
But the Word of God assures us, our Eternal God won't fail.
In His perfect timing always, despite all the blows we feel,
Gently wooing in His manner, as at Jesus' feet we kneel.
As He gathers us e'er closer, in His loving arms we're safe.
A strong tower, He's our refuge--into Him we run and hide
So when storm clouds roll around us, in Him safely we abide.
And those valleys that were dismal and so dark in years gone by--
We remember that He brought us safely to the other side.
Though our own strength had soon faltered, stumbling blindly on our way,
Precious Jesus Christ, Redeemer, brought us out to golden day.
He shows no respect of persons, He will do the same for you--
If your heart is heavy ladened, Jesus Christ will see you through
All the valleys you must travel, all the mountains you must climb--
He's an ever present Savior, He gives peace and joy sublime.
He'll ne'er leave or e'er forsake you--He is your forever friend.
Despite all the world will tell you, "forever" never has an end.
Bring your burdens now to Jesus, let Him break the bonds that bind
As you pour your heart out to Him, a truer friend you'll never find.
