Did you notice our scripture text above? Do you understand it? Salvation is by the Grace of God, through faith in Jesus Christ. If it could be obtained by works (deeds), there would be those who could brag about it, because they were able to do "more" or "greater" things than others.
All the good works that a person could ever do will never earn Salvation. "High moral fiber", being of "good character" will NOT do it. There is no purchase that can be made to gain Salvation. There is NO way to EARN Salvation. Only by faith and the acceptance of that which Jesus did for each of us through His suffering: the Supreme Sacrifice He became for us when He took our place on that old rugged cross and the completion of that Plan of Salvation when He arose from the dead and ascended to the right hand of God, where He makes intercession for us. Thus, I repeat: the is the only way to attain Salvation for our eternal souls is by faith in AND [individual] acceptance of Salvation through Jesus Christ.
- There must be true faith in God, and total acceptance of Jesus Christ as the ONLY begotten Son of God. It is still just as true today as it was when Jesus told Thomas in John 14:6, "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."
- There must be true sorrow for our sins. This is not sorrow that we were caught doing wrong, this is sorrow that we did wrong. For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death. II Corinthians 7:10. Know what that means? The "sorrow of the world" is that we are sorry we "were caught". Godly sorrow is sorrow that we did wrong--our honest acknowledgement to ourselves and to God that what we did was wrong. Therein lies the difference.
- We must repent of--ask forgiveness for--our sins. Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out... Acts 3:19. Jesus said, ...except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. Luke 13:3,5. Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. Isaiah 55:6,7. We must REPENT of our sins, and acknowledge we have sinned, which is the "confessing" our sins to God part that so many of us deem unnecessary: "Well, God is God and if He knows everything, He already knows I have sinned." That's right, HE does--but He wants us to admit, own up to, acknowledge our accountability for the sin in our lives. Get it? If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. I John 1:9. He already knows them ALL--He wants us to acknowledge (admit) our sinful state: "I am a sinner in need of a Savior!"
- It is NOT enough to merely believe in God or some "higher power" or some "ruling power of the cosmos"! Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. James 2:19. There are many people, who, when confronted with the question, "Do you know Jesus as your personal Savior?" will answer, "Well, I believe in God." It is NOT the same thing, my friends. I believe that water will quench thirst, but until I have taken a drink, I will remain thirsty. I believe that detergent will clean my clothes, but until I add it to the wash, it won't do my clothes a bit of good.
- There is no such thing as "surface" salvation--it MUST be a total commitment of our will to His. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise. Psalm 51:17. We must turn from our way to God's way: For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. Isaiah 55:8.

"All" means A-L-L and that's all "all" means. E-V-E-R-Y-O-N-E.
Whereas you know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor, that appears for a little while, and then vanishes away. James 4:14.
None of us have any guarantee of tomorrow or even the next heartbeat!
For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through him might be saved. John 3:16,17.
He took a debt he did not owe and paid it for me (and you)! He died that you, and you, and you, and you, and me, yes, me - that we could have eternal life through Him!
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Romans 10:13.
Come on now, read it one more time: Who? W-H-O-S-O-E-V-E-R. It doesn't have a list of who does or does not qualify, it says simply, "Whosoever". Anyone. It doesn't get any simpler than that! I want you to understand something, right now: the ground is level at the foot of the cross. All of us have committed the error of sin - there is no "Big I" and "little you" in the sight of God. We are all equal.
That if you will confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you shall be saved. For with the heart man believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Romans 10:9,10. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. I John 1:9.
Confess? That's right, confess. Simply acknowledge that we have sinned. You see, God already knows about all our sins--He simply wants us to admit them!
Jesus, I believe that You are the Son of God. I believe that you died and rose again for the forgiveness of my sins. I know that I am a sinner, I have sinned. I ask You to forgive me of all the sin in my life. Come into my heart and make me a new creature in You, Jesus, that I might have eternal life. Jesus, I accept You as my personal Savior and I thank You for taking away my sins.
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. II Corinthians 5:17.
Read it again. What does it say? Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. You ARE a NEW creature in Christ! ALL (there's that word "ALL" again), ALL things are made new!
for there is none other name under heaven
given among men, whereby we must be saved.
Acts 4:12.
No one else, just Jesus!

Worshipping with other believers will strengthen your faith as you grow in Grace and the knowledge of God's Word. Choose a church that preaches and practices Bible truths from the true Word of God. It should also be a church body of people who welcome you and are truly interested in your well-being, physically and spiritually.
